He later continued his education at DePaul University in Chicago, where he broadened his perspective through academic and personal experiences that deepened his curiosity and commitment to growth.

His leadership and dedication to helping others earned recognition from Dreams for Kids, which presented him with the Outstanding Achievement in Leadership Award. The honor reflected his continued support for organizations that create opportunities for young people facing adversity. He also served on the boards of the National Kidney Foundation and the Columbian Club of Chicago, contributing to initiatives involving health advocacy, cultural preservation, and community outreach.
In addition to board service, Richard has remained involved in a variety of charitable efforts supporting families and individuals facing hardship.
